Award-winning improv comedy trio Rare Bird Show will take the hilarious hosting reigns of the popular interactive Puppet Karaoke Universe Show this April in a wild night of singing hand puppets, spontaneous audience participation, and free-for-all laughs as the Puppet Karaoke Comedy Truckload Sale event unfolds April 19th at the M-Room in Philadelphia.
Rare Bird Show is a side-splitting performance phenomenon consisting of three of Philly's improv stand-outs, Matt Holmes, Nathan Edmonson, and Alexis Simpson. The trio's acclaimed act has performed all over Philadelphia, toured to improv festivals around the country, and been voted a Top 10 Live Arts and Fringe Pick (Aroundphilly.com), Best Comedy Club runner-up (Philly Style Magazine), and Editor's Pick (Philadelphia Weekly. Rare Bird Show is "one of Philadelphia's most reliable and highly demanded improv groups," according to PhillyImprov.com. Itself a haven for unbridled improvisation, the three-year running Puppet Karaoke Universe Show features a cast of irreverent hand puppets with unpredictable, sometimes lovable personalities and a full range of singing capabilities and hilarious idiosyncrasies. Each show is presided over by a new Celebrity Host who mingles with the pipe-cleaner and foam-rubber characters then encourages the audience to participate by building puppets and taking the stage for intense and uproarious competition. Real karaoke ensues and the show highlights are regularly podcast for global consumption. Rare Bird Show is the latest in a long-line of notable guests who have hosted the show to date, including TV personality Elizabeth Fiend, Avant-Garde band Stucco Lobster Breadbox, and popular sketch comedians The Minor Prophets.
