The hardest working comedian in the Mid-Atlantic region, heckler-magnet Benny Michaels takes a undeserved break from his Philadelphia suburbs tour to deal death-defying standup routines amidst intense Puppet Karaoke competition in an all-new anarchic installment of the Puppet Karaoke Universe Show, ongoing at the M-Room in Fishtown.
Michaels, an alleged TV and stage performer of dubious distinction, is one-third of the comedic trio "People Were Outraged" (along with Brendan Kennedy and Mike Rainey). Benny has appeared on the Opie & Anthony Show and often opens for the great Reverend Bob Levy. This will be the first time he has hosted a Puppet Karaoke event. Inventor of his own Olde English/ebonics hybrid language, Michaels is a true innovator in the irritation-as-entertainment art form, and a strong advocate of freedom as expressed through underground comedy at alternative venues, such as the M-Room.
The Puppet Karaoke Night Of Appalling Evil Show is a special edition of the monthly interactive live comedy show where audience members create handmade puppets to perform real karaoke while celebrity hosts, such as Michaels, blend improv and unpredictable routines into a highly energetic and often surreal atmosphere. Past hosts have included The Minor Prophets, Jonathan Randall and Dirty Diamond, among many others.
