DJ phenomenon and 'Sex Dwarfmaster' Robert Drake will step out of the hollowed booth on Thursday, July 26th for a needlessly naughty night of mixed-up musical mayhem as smart-alecky hand puppets from the Puppet Karaoke Universe Show will conduct the all new 2007 80s Spectacular Show at the M-Room in Fishtown. Drake, the famed radio producer of WXPN's Kid's Corner, Q-Zine and other pioneering programs, will present an improv-laden lounge-like comedy cavalcade where New Wave and Dance classics will be rendered hand-puppet style with full-fledged audience participation highly encouraged.
Officially in its east coast touring mode, the ongoing Puppet Karaoke Universe Show maintains a regular schedule in the Philadelphia and New York areas. With a revolving, often surprising slew of celebrity guest hosts, the interactive comedy event is gaining new momentum and attracting new fans in the nightlife, comedy and underground arts communities. A unprecedented mixture of puppet theatre and late-night bar karaoke, the show has birthed a stable of unreal characters with fan followings of their own, such as The Boxy Twins, Boo-Hoo The MySpace Clown and newcomer Mo' Tut, a tough-talking boy king who raps. The PKU Show is produced by Waiting For Cable, a comedy duo comprised of Alex Strang and R.S. Purcell. Robert Drake is a radio producer for WXPN, and the real brains behind Sex Dwarf, a monthly event at Fluid nightclub. The Puppet Karaoke All 80s Spectacular is Thursday, July 26th at 9:00 PM. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. The M-Room is located at 15 W Girard Ave in Philadelphia, PA 19125 More information at http://www.puppetkaraoke.com (photos and videos available) |
