Creator of the definitive and popular Johnny Cash Experience, famed 'Man-In-Black' David Stone will preside over a riotous rock n' roll-infused night of singing puppetry for the 2007 Puppet Karaoke Ring Of Fire Show at the M-Room in Philadelphia on August 23rd. Stone, whose well-honored rendition of the iconic Cash has been a marvel of tribute performance for over 3 years, will walk the improv comedy line with the wisecracking weirdoes off the PKU show. Characters such as Tony Trainwreck, Boo-Hoo The MySpace Clown and Candystick (an overgrown talking piece of penny candy) will join with the accomplished Stone for what is being billed as a 'freight train of musical comedy'.
David Stone started as a singer-songwriter with enough Johnny Cash devotion to make a Highwayman proud. This Philadelphia native is not a Cash look-alike, but his invocation of the legendary Man-In-Black's spirit is startlingly authentic and rich in respect for this singular icon of American Country Music. Stone also writes songs in the same style of the late Johnny Cash. The award-winning Puppet Karaoke Universe Show blends the embarrassing acts of bar karaoke with hand puppet hi-jinx, to create a unique comedy show that is 99% improv. With a roster of local celebrity hosts, such as Stone, and an often risque video podcast series, the show has built an underground community of fans among would-be puppeteers, comedy club goers and nightlife seekers throughout the Philadelphia and New York area. The PKU Show is produced by Waiting For Cable, a comedy duo comprised of Alex Strang and R.S. Purcell. The Puppet Karaoke Ring Of Fire Show is Thursday, August 23rd at 9:00 PM. Tickets are $5 and are available online or at the door. The M-Room is located at 15 W Girard Ave in Philadelphia, PA 19125 More information at http://www.puppetkaraoke.com More information about David Stone http://www.maninblackshow.com (photos and videos available) |
