Up-and-coming sketch comedy troupers Meg and Rob, creators of the acclaimed 'Reviving the Lecture Circuit' live show and producers of the film 'My Dinner With Mischa', will be presenting a very special edition of the Puppet Karaoke show on December 20th at the A HREF="http://themanhattanroom.com">M-Room in Philadelphia. The 2007 Puppet Karaoke Psychic Rodeo Show will combine the duo's talent for absurdist character portrayal with the raucous spectacle of improv-laden musical puppet theater.
Meg and Rob have been wowing the Philadelphia populace with their "Reviving the Lecture Circuit" show, which features a slew of satirical characters and premiered in the 2007 Philadelphia Fringe Festival to excellent reviews. Rob shot product footage. Meg wrote show descriptions. Their decision to make comedy together happened like this: while sitting at lunch, Meg said, "Does anyone want to start a sketch comedy troupe?" And Rob said, "Yes." They settled on using first names only, "Because nobody would be able to spell 'Favreau & Baniewicz" Their short film 'My Dinner With Mischa' produced with filmmaker Jeff Sutter has appeared in the Boston Comedy Festival. The Puppet Karaoke Universe Show runs monthly at the M-Room in Fishtown, and plays at other venues in the Philadelphia and New York areas. The three-year running comedy extravaganza features a cast of singing hand puppets, intense audience participation and a new guest celebrity host to keep each show different and exciting. Past hosts have included home economics anarchist Liz Fiend, raunchy singer Dirty Diamond, and all-80s DJ Robert Drake, to name a few. The Puppet Karaoke Psychic Rodeo Show is Thursday, December 20th at 9:00 PM. Tickets are $5 and are available online or at the door.
