Ron Avery: Books
To date, Ron Avery has written three books about Philadelphia:
His first book , published in 1991 was Philadelphia Beyond the Liberty Bell. It is a guide book to unusual and interest sites, museums and places.
City of Brotherly Mayhem, Philadelphia Crimes and Criminals, details 15 of the city's most interesting crimes between 1866 and 1975.
A Concise History of Philadelphia is the only brief, comprehensive book detailing more than 300 years of city history.
OTHER WRITINGS
Avery has written several articles on Philadelphia history for USHistory.org. Recently he wrote the history section for the Lonely Planet guide book, Philadelphia & the Pennsylvania Dutch Country.
He edited a 100th anniversary book for the Philadelphia Canoe Club and wrote a chapter on Jewish athletes for the book, Philadelphia Jewish Life 1940 to 1985.
In addition, Avery has written many freelance magazine and newspaper articles, including pieces for the Philadelphia Inquirer Sunday Magazine, New Jersey Magazine and Delaware Magazine.
