Live Philadelphia Tours

Ron Avery has been leading tours in Philadelphia for more than a decade.

He has given tours to every age group from elementary school children to senior citizens. Sometimes he has led large groups of up to 60 persons. Occasionally, he is asked to give tours for only one VIP or visiting journalist. Once he was called on to provide a two-day tour of the city and Valley Forge for a Texas oil millionaire and his young grandson.

In addition, Avery's talents are often called upon by private tour operators, trolley and bus companies and city officials, He has proudly showed his city to groups from Great Britain, Canada, Hungary and Russian, plus bus-loads of tourists from as far away as Oklahoma, Florida and New England.

For 10 years, he has been associated with Philadelphia Elderhostel as both a guide and lecturer. In addition to Philadelphia's famous historic sites, he enjoys leading walking tours through the narrow back alleys and courtyards of old Philadelphia.

Ron Avery - Philadelphia Know It ALl
'In 2007 my wife and I led a group of seniors from Williamsburg, Virginia, on a three-day tour of Philadelphia during the Flower Show. Ron Avery was our guide. He rode up on the bus with us and lectured periodically about Phily past and present. On two occasions during our stay in the city, Ron led us to all the usual historical sites but also showed us a Philadelphia that most tourists do not see. Ron not only imparts a great deal of information, but he does it with a wonderful sense of humor. When he finally left us, the group was greatly disappointed that he wasn't going to be with us all the way home! He's a tough act to follow. I wouldn't tour Philadelphia with any one else but Ron.' - Mel Jones, Alexandria Virginia
